You sighed impatiently, tapping your pen on your knee. It was such a long meeting! Director Fury had called most of the Avengers for a meeting, except for Hawkeye and Widow, who were on missions. Even Thor managed to make it today. All you were waiting for was another chance to say hello. Being an assistant scientist in the Biotechnology Engineering department of S.H.I.E.L.D., you’d gotten to know most of the ‘Avengers’ pretty well. The only one who you didn’t socialize with on a normal basis was Bruce Banner, which you didn’t mind giving space. Tony had told you not to bother him, so you simply didn’t.
Your father was the head scientist in your division, being renowned for his genius. People tended to expect more from you as his daughter. That is, except for Tony, Steve, and Natasha. Tony was like a second father to you. When you were little, back when Stark Industries still manufactured weaponry, he would take you to an ice cream shop and literally buy you a month’s worth of ice cream. You were like the spoiled niece he didn’t have. Natasha trained you when you first came to S.H.I.E.L.D., and tended to talk boys with you. She and Maria Hill made sure that you had other girls to relate to. They stepped up their game especially when they heard about your mother. Someone you didn’t like talking about. As for Steve, you taught him how to work a lot of the newer technology. After S.H.I.E.L.D. was recently infiltrated, Steve hadn’t spoken to you very much. He was frustrating, but you loved him. After all, they were like your family.

“(F/n)! THERE YOU ARE.” The sound of your father’s voice stunned you out of your thoughts and you looked up. Dr. Lounze did not look pleased. He waved you over with an impatient frown. “You silly girl, did you forget? We’re meeting your sister at two-thirty!” His words brought a chill down your back. This was a meeting you’d been dreading all week. Your half-sister, Lisalle Montgomery, had been missing for three years. Three years that left you worried and empty inside. Last week, an email came from her. She reassured you that she was just fine, that she ran away to live in Paris with her fiance. It didn’t seem... right. But today, you were going to meet up with her and go for a drive to talk things over.
Without saying a word, you met your father in the elevator. Your father was a good enough man, but no one really questioned or argued when someone struck his nerves. Especially if you’re the one that struck them. As you made your way out of the S.H.I.E.L.D building, your mind drifted. It made you angry, that you had to go meet the sister that ditched you instead of hanging out with Tony and Steve.

“Darling, what is it? You don’t seem happy.” Your father pushed his glasses up his nose, looking down on you. He looked concerned, yes, but he didn’t really care. You were more of an assistant to him than a daughter.

“Nothing, I’m just tired. Do you mind if I grab some coffee at the cafe by our rendezvous?” You tried not to look at him. Even after the many years of experience, you still sucked at lying. There was a brief hesitation before a gentle smile came onto Dr. Lounze’s face.

“Of course, dear. I’m sure Lisalle won’t mind if you’re running late.”
The rest of the car ride was silent. It was hard, trying to socialize with your father. The furthest you got into casual conversation was discussing how well each other was coming along. The rest of it was physics and technology; most of which you didn’t understand. As the car pulled up to the busy patio area of an italian restaurant, the pit started rolling in your stomach. The chauffeur helped you, followed by your father out of the car with a respectful nod.

“I’m going now, I’ll be back in a minute...” You crossed the street to get to your favorite beverage shop. It was a place that was on the verge of running out of business. A peaceful place. This was where your mom used to take you. Father didn’t approve of you frequenting here so often, probably because a part of you hoped you would see her again. That was silly, though... your mother was done with this part of town. The owner knew you and Lisalle personally, and loved visiting with you. It looked like she was out today.

“Hey (F/n),” The cashier, Rosetta, greeted. You weren’t so used to Rosetta. She was a young, fritzy girl who didn’t respect her superiors.

“Hi Rosetta. Can I have a chai tea?” You leaned on the counter, sending a casual glance out the window. It was strange... a black van was parked where the limo was... And what you saw made your blood run cold. A group of men were casually hounding your father into the car. He was protesting as he was shoved in and the door was slammed.

“Hey, there she is!” One of the men pointed at you and you paled. Without any regard for the people around you, you ran. It was what Natasha told you to do, just in case you were ever in trouble. You could fight, but it couldn’t come to that. Those people knew what they were doing...
You sprinted around the corner, pushing past people in your way. God damn it! You’d left your bag in the car- the one that had your cellphone and taser. You heard shouts behind you and ducked into an alley. You could get away here... the alley led straight to the other street. This was the underground, a maze of alleyways and tunnels. You could get out here, right? You were about halfway through when the exit was blocked by two large men. Heart pounding, you skidded to a stop. This wasn’t good. Maybe if you could get past them, you could get to your apartment, to a phone.

“I got her.” Someone grabbed you from behind, and you cried out, elbowing the man behind you. He swore and let go, allowing you to press yourself into a corner. You balled your hands into fists, facing the three men around you.

“Who are you?! What do you want?!” Your words were short and demanding. You weren’t afraid of them. It’s not like Director Fury wouldn’t hear about it.

“Stop fighting, sweetheart~” The one standing directly before you grinned, eyes hungry. You stood your ground, refusing to submit. They were some sick bastards...
Before they were given a chance to answer, a figure dropped from the roof. There was the sickening sound of metal on bone, and one of the men fell to his knees in pain. The others didn’t have time to react before being knocked unconscious or shot. Leaning heavily against the wall, you looked at the person who saved you.
It was a man, very well fit. A mask covered the lower half of his face, but you were caught by his striking blue eyes. He was wearing a large yet casual black coat, which he made no haste in tucking you under. Usually, you’d be fighting him... but something made you trust him.

“Stay with me, do what I do.” His voice was deep and demanding; the voice of a soldier. He pressed you close, hiding you from view as he started to walk in the opposite direction that the van was. “Head down, pull your hair forward.” You did as he told you, allowing him to lead you out of the zone of immediate danger. You still had trouble believing it. They had your father. Behind you, a few more shouts erupted. Though the stranger had brought you a whole block away, you physically tensed up.

“It’s alright,” he sounded irritable. “Just keep walking. They don’t see us.” The
stranger’s grip tightened just enough to calm you and let you take a deep breath. Looking up, you realized that he’d taken you to your apartment building. He released you from his warm hold.

“Thirty seconds to pack a bag. Any longer and I’ll go in after you,” He ordered, quickly walking to a parking lot. You rushed up the steps to your apartment before pulling out a bag and flinging things into it without checking. Before pushing it closed, you managed to stuff in everything but the glock that your father had given you. Lazily stuffing that in your pocket, you ran down the flight of stairs before rushing outside. Yes, you knew this was a risk. You were always taught not to trust anybody, to go straight to Director Fury. But it’s not like you could just ditch this guy. There was something about him that gave you a feeling that he knew what he was doing. Obviously, SHIELD didn’t. Not if most of the SHIELD workers were bad guys anyway.

When you made it outside, the man wasn’t in sight. You barely had a second’s time to think before you were slammed backwards against the building’s brick wall. One of the guys from earlier was holding the collar of your jacket. Bracing your elbow, you followed your instinct and slammed it into his extended arm. You heard his bone crack, and he shouted in pain. Almost instantly following, the stranger grabbed your arm and started pulling you along as he ran.

You were probably going to regret this.

So I saw the new Captain America movie. Marvel has once again caught my obsession. Yes, it has spoilers, and I'm keeping up that warning until I see fit. Please don't read if you want it to be spoiled.
On another note, the Winter Soldier puts the ass in assassin. So I made this. >U<

Yes, I will be writing a lemon for this, I will squeeze it in somewhere.
I'm also leaving it up to you guys: I'm thinking more happy ending, but should I make this a happy or sad ending story?
